  • Abdelmadjid Tebboune Head of State announced at a meeting he chaired on Thursday, the closure of cafeterias and restaurants as a preventive measure to stem the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.

    This will be a temporary closure of cafeterias and restaurants in major cities of Algeria, starting next Sunday until April 4, with the possibility of extending this decision.

    You can protect yourself and help prevent spreading the virus to others if you:



    1.Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub

    2.Cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze

    3.Avoid close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with people who are unwell

    4.Stay home and self-isolate from others in the household if you feel unwell


    Touch your eyes, nose, or mouth if your hands are not clean

    On Facebook, staff members posted a photo with them holding a sign that says "Stay home for us." Similar images from other medical professionals have made the rounds on social media.

    "Follow CDC guidelines for us. We can’t stay home and practice social distances in the hospital. Please help us so we can help you," the post said.

    Doctors and nurses are asking you to do your part to stay out of the ICU -- including washing your hands often and practicing social distancing.
